Why you should read Atlas Shrugged: because you are a Democrat and it would be good for you and your kind to remember why socialism is a bad idea. =) Catcher in the Rye will make you feel better about your angst. No one is angstier (I just totally made that word up) than Holden C. Omnivore's Dilemma is for your post-vegetarian world. And so you can eat other things besides air!Micahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13208227400592438221noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4430661281907732532.post-20747078213931530512010-01-30T20:21:45.160-06:002010-01-30T20:21:45.160-06:00I am reading Atlas Shrugged right now. Or what about The Omnivore's Dilemma?Micahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13208227400592438221noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4430661281907732532.post-48403275786397848502010-01-30T13:06:19.819-06:002010-01-30T13:06:19.819-06:00Wow!! Well - I MIGHT have read Cold Sassy Tree now that I think about it but I'm not entirely sure....JennInAustinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11204200624825757810noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4430661281907732532.post-10295031142973702082010-01-30T09:40:19.712-06:002010-01-30T09:40:19.712-06:00"Dune"- the sci-fi masterpiece. Did you read...Has no one commented yet? FOR SHAME.

Did you read/finish Owen Meaney?

Suggestions:

1. The Stand by Stephen King. What would *you* do in a post-disease-apocalypse battle between good and evil. Plus, you love my son, and I originally got the name "Stuart" from the main hero, Stuart Redman.

2. Heartburn by Nora Ephron, esp. if you haven't seen the movie. Great female POV--very pained yet ascerbic. Bloglike! Only better b/c it's based on real life and real people (Ephron writes about the breakup of her marriage to reporter Carl Bernstein, IIRC). She tosses in recipes throughout--which is highly amusing.

3. Cold Sassy Tree. You probably read this already. I honestly don't remember it, but it was of that good era of Southern-centered folksy recollections, good humor, dramatic storytelling--gossip! I read it for a HS class, believe it or not, and I know folks who read it since who really liked it all over again.JRHhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12361812710027141748noreply@blogger.com
